Tomb of Mary (burial place of Mary, mother of Jesus) at Mount of Olives

Tomb of Mary

Tomb of the Mary, is a Christian tomb in the Kidron Valley – at the foot of Mount of Olives, in Jerusalem – believed by Eastern Christians to be the burial place of Mary, the mother of Jesus.

As the soldiers led Jesus away from the Garden of Gethsemane, they would have passed the nearby spot that became the Tomb of Virgin Mary. Though she probably lived and died on Mount Zion, tradition holds that she was buried here at the foot of Mount of Olives. This has led many scholars to conclude that the land around Gethsemane was owned by one of the disciples.
